Cell Widget: A Small Yet Powerful Android Widget
Cell Widget is a free Android application in the Utilities & Tools category developed by Hannes Boran. This small yet powerful widget displays a wealth of information about your mobile network, including operator name, mobile country code (MCC) and mobile network code (MNC), speed (HSDPA, EDGE, LTE...), location area code (LAC), cell-ID, and current dBm. Moreover, each information can be hidden, making the widget customizable according to your preferences.
The text color, size, and opacity of the widget are also configurable, and there is an optional notification feature. You can choose to receive notifications with or without the widget, and you can configure the action when touching the widget or notification. The widget also has an auto collect new cells feature, which names the cells based on their location, and you can flag certain cells as home cells. When you are in a certain area with a flagged cell, the notification icon changes to a house, which can be useful for making cheaper phone calls. However, cells must be flagged manually since there is no way to do this automatically.
